How much were you at the House of Love and Prayer?
Lived There
What year(s) were you at the House?

How did you meet Shlomo?
HaShem, with very clear hashgocha pratis, brought me to the house about an hour before Shabbos July 10,1970, a few days into the 10 day Teach-In. I had never heard of the House, or of Shlomo, had never experienced Shabbos, and walked in reluctantly. It was the greatest day of my life, for which I thank HaShem every day in my Shmonah Esrei. I had been hitchhiking, searching for what my purpose in life would be, and after hearing Shlomo teach on the Parsha, tell stories, and sing, and experiencing the genuine warmth and friendliness of the people around me, as I sat crammed in on the stairs, I said to myself, This is what I was looking for.
What is your Jewish and/or spiritual practice today?
Since leaving the house, I learned in Yeshiva, and have lived in yeshiva communities, and worked as a melamed, a shochet, and a mashgiach.
Where do you live now?
Baltimore
Please tell us a little about your life today.
Presently I am a mashgiach at night in a flavor factory, a job in which I am able to learn most of the night.
What would you like to get from this social network?

Hello Aryae, when I was too tired to learn anymore, I had this idea to look online and see if there was anything on the House, and I was pleasantly surprised to see this site which you set up

Reuven

Reuven, Sholom aleichem, I remember you as well from the House, but not from S. Fallsburg. I liked your moshul of someone going to a shul for Shabbos and then driving home to bringing oneself to a bad trip(you sure you never took LSD?) I also found amusing your story of Shlomo telling your mother to go cook her borscht. However, knowing Shlomo, he didn't say it in such a manner, but surely with such chen, that she took it as a compliment. I'm glad you are married and living in Monsey, a Chassidi… Continue

Not to take anything away from r. Avigdor Miller, whose drashot i do like and from whom i have learned quite a lot. Reb Nachman maintains the need to turn to Hashem for even the small things. He maintains that to do otherwise demonstrates an arrogance that Hashem is there for only the big things but that the little things are in our control.

Hi Neeman. We got the tapes from your daughter but need contact info for Ira as we have not gotten that box yet, as far as I know. Most of them are already on digital media!
Thanks, Elana

If you sign up with facebook you will find lots of old friends and more pictures, they are taged with names and many of the people are actually commenting, not only on the photos, but on the house and talking about what they are doing in their real lives right now...Aryea has created a HLP site on facebook and their are many that have joined...I actually wrote to Peasch in Florida yesterday and perhaps we will hear from him as well...take care and stay in touch...

There are lots of stories from the really old days and some day perhaps we can all arrange a reunion and make that happen...I'm sure that Aryea's book will be filled with all of our stories...
